The MDI GW2CW1000 is a normally-closed float switch for 120 or 240 Volt AC, with a maximum continuous current of 13 Amp. These switches are meant for pumps up to 1/2 HP. A normally-closed float is used for keeping a tank “full”; when the float is ‘up’ it is switched off, and when the fluid level drops (and the float with it) it switches on, activating a pump, to bring the fluid level back up.
